Ryedale Run 10 Miles

Three members of Scarborough Athletic Club took part in the annual Ryedale Run at Malton, which is now run over an accurately measured 10 mile route on quiet roads in the vicinity of the historic North Yorkshire town.

The trio was led home by Louise Brown who finished up in 4th overall in 60 minutes 37 minutes, but had to settle for the women’s runner up spot behind London based Becky Penty of Highgate Harriers, who is a United Kingdom top ranked distance runner, and who in turn finished in second overall behind another London based runner, Gavin Jones of Raneleigh Harriers.

Louise’s husband Oscar Guallar who was competing at the distance for the first time, was pleased to finish up in 6th place overall in 63 minutes 20 second.

Neil Scruton improved his time for the distance this year which he achieved at Snake Lane, when finishing in 16th with a much faster 65 minutes and 17 second finish. Neil who is ranked at number 2 in the Yorkshire County rankings for his age group, was once again the first Over 60 finisher, and came home 9 minutes ahead of the runner up in his age division.
